Help for heating

The aim of our Help for Heating grant is to help alleviate fuel poverty within the agricultural community. Everyone should be able to heat their homes and we know that as energy prices increase this will become increasingly difficult for many, including those involved in agriculture.

Our Help for Heating grants are a minimum of £400 and we may suggest putting you in touch with another organisation to access alternative forms of support related to energy, such as grants for home efficiency measures.

A case officer will explain the application process and let you know what information we require to submit the application. All support is confidential.

Click on our online application form to see if you might qualify.

Please note that during the festive period, applications may be delayed by up to 3 weeks

*Disposable income and savings criteria are applied to all financial applications

Reducing the Risk of Fuel Theft

Please find below some tips, put together by Police Scotland, on how to avoid becoming a victim of fuel thefts from domestic and commercial tanks:

  • Deter thieves from entering your property by installing and using lockable gates and by maintaining boundaries and perimeter fencing
  • Plant shrubs or install fences to hide exposed domestic heating oil tanks from the eyes of opportunist thieves cruising the neighbourhood
  • Consider fitting a locking cap to your tank
  • Check tank oil levels regularly
  • Where possible install automatic movement sensor security lighting to cover your tank and the immediate surrounding area
  • Note suspicious vehicle registration numbers and report them to the police through the 101 number
  • If tanks are located in outbuildings or sheds, ensure these are kept locked
  • Be aware that if thieves have already stolen fuel from your tank they may return to steal any replacement oil you order
  • Be especially vigilant following a recent delivery of oil/diesel
  • Consider fitting an alarm system that notifies you if fuel is being drained from the tank

Report any suspicious activity, or those involved, to Police Scotland by calling 101. In an emergency, call 999.”
