Jimmy McLean retired as the Chairman, Agriculture with the Royal Bank of Scotland at the end of 2016. In that role he advised the bank on agricultural strategy, credit policy and PR. Jimmy was previously the Head of Agricultural Services with the Royal Bank. He assumed responsibility for the integration of NatWest Agriculture into the Royal Bank between 2000 and 2002. He managed the Royal Bank’s response to the FMD crisis, the restructuring of the central agricultural team in 2008 following the financial crisis and then the re-building of that team from 2010 on. Jimmy was Chairman of the NFUS Remuneration Committee for 9 years and is a Trustee of The Farmers Club Committee in London. He currently sits on the Scottish Government Sustainability Working Group, having previously served on groups looking at the Forward Strategy for Scottish Agriculture and subsequently monitoring its implementation. He also served on the group looking at the control of exotic diseases in Scotland. Jimmy has a BSc(Hons) in agriculture from Edinburgh University and is a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies.
