Great Glen Challenge 2017
25th August 2017Venue: Great Glen
Congratulations to all our fantastic teams as it is announced RSABI Great Glen Challenge 2017 has raised over £55,000 to support people in Scottish agriculture
We are celebrating following confirmation that the event, held at the end of August, has raised £55,150 thus exceeding the fundraising target once again. The popular event has raised well over £200,000 in recent years with support from around 450 rural competitors, representing over 100 company teams since being established in 2012.
This year’s Great Glen Challenge event, sponsored once again by Ledingham Chalmers, solicitors, and supported by Bank of Scotland, Galbraith, The Scottish Farmer and Royal Bank of Scotland, saw 108 competitors from a record 27 teams, cycle, kayak, walk and run 46km from Fort Augustus to Fort William.
The funds raised will help us provide emotional, practical and financial support to individuals and their families across the agricultural sector including farming, crofting and growing.
Thank you and see you next time!

Now in its 6th year, the RSABI Great Glen Challenge is returning to the Highland trail on Friday 25th August 2017, and we have signed up 27 teams this year from rural organisations, businesses and individuals to compete in this unique and exciting one day team challenge (see below for all event documents and maps).
The Challenge is sponsored by Ledingham Chalmers, solicitors and supported by main partners The Scottish Farmer, Bank of Scotland, Galbraith and Royal Bank of Scotland. As well as some returning faces, new teams will line up to take part and enjoy some fun, informal team building as well as a good dose of healthy competition as they mountain bike, kayak, walk and run through the Great Glen!
- 46km mountain bike
- 6km kayak
- 18km walk
- 17km run
- Reception at the finish line
The Challenge is designed to be inclusive and all sporting abilities are welcomed.
Price & Fundraising
- Team Entry (team of 4 people + support driver) = £550
- Individual pledge: Each team member is asked to make a £250 pledge. Rather than fundraising being the only way to achieve the pledge total, this year we are also challenging competitors to sign up new members for the RSABI Supporter Scheme too. There will be a separate prize for the team that brings in the most supporters!
In 2016, 23 teams took part, with the team from Watson Seeds eventually crowned winners - a fantastic sum in excess of £52,000 was raised overall for the charity.
